Few Raymarine ST1000+ on repair. Compass problems because of corroded traces that drive fluxgate through transistors. Picture from the scope from fluxgate drive before and after fixing traces.
And drive problems because as customer said "it is making rattling noises when it hits the port and starboard limit". Of course that the owner didn't read the manual as in lots of cases... Because if he did he would know that these products are not intended for hitting the limit because they don't have limit switches or encoder. When they hit the limit they just continue to work until they grind belt, gears or until device report overcurrent (although I am not sure if they monitor current at all). And of course that these autopilots are not meant for turning the boats around, they are intended to keep the course with 30 degrees max changes at once...
